Trenam law firm is pleased to announce that Roberta Colton, a shareholder of the firm and member of its Executive Board, has been appointed to become a United States Bankruptcy Judge. She will serve as a federal bankruptcy judge in the Middle District of Florida, with a duty station in Orlando.
“It is a well-deserved honor for Roberta to be selected for this important role in our nation’s judiciary; she is a highly-regarded lawyer who has built her career on professional excellence,” said Tate Taylor, Chair of Trenam’s Executive Board. “With more than 30 years of experience in bankruptcy, creditors’ rights and restructuring, she will be a tremendous asset to the United States Bankruptcy Court. We could not be more pleased for her.”
Roberta joined Trenam in 1983 and has been a Shareholder since 1988. She has held numerous leadership roles within the firm, serving as Chair of its Bankruptcy, Creditors’ Rights & Insolvency Practice Group, as a member of the firm’s three-person Management Committee and as a member of Trenam’s five-person Executive Board.
As an active member of the profession, Roberta has served as Eleventh Circuit Regent for the American College of Bankruptcy, as Chair of the Local Rules Committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Middle District of Florida, and as Chair of the Grievance Committee of the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. She also is former Chair of The Florida Bar Business Law Section, Bankruptcy/UCC Committee, and the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association.
