Trenam Law is pleased to announce that shareholder Eric Koenig was featured in Law360 in an article titled Trenam Law’s Eric Koenig Grills (For) His Opponents. Koenig was featured in the column Secret Lives of Lawyers, a series on attorneys’ novel pursuits outside the courtroom.
Koenig serves as a counselor and advisor to business owners and executives, helping them navigate and resolve complex legal matters and disputes. Koenig’s practice includes complex commercial litigation, real estate litigation, and construction litigation.
In his spare time, Koenig is a participant at professional barbecue competitions. He is a two-time consecutive champion at Tampa’s annual Pig Jig competition. Accompanying his passion for barbecue is his passion for making his own beer. Koenig has earned first-place medals in brewing competitions and has garnered at least six best-in-show awards at competitions such as the Central Florida Home Brewers Sunshine Challenge. He even hosted an event at Tampa’s posh Donatello restaurant, where the chef prepared specialized dishes to be paired with his beers.
Robert G. Stern, a shareholder at Trenam who co-leads its real estate and lending transactions group, says he uses Koenig’s barbecued meats and homemade beers to help develop relations with clients and facilitate relationships with the opposing side. “This is Eric’s passion, this is his hobby, and he does it for all the right reasons,” Stern said, “but the unintended consequences are that it happens be very good for our community, it happens to raise the profile of our law firm, and it’s really a great benefit to our clients.”
