Topics ranged from COVID-19 to the 21st Century Cures Act, which requires providers to give patients to clinical notes in their electronic medical records at no cost.
Access to Clinical Notes – While HIPAA already gives patients the right to access their records in any format under HIPAA, the Cures Act says they should have free and almost immediate access. “Health care technology companies cannot engage in information blocking, like unnecessary billing,” Aebel said.
