On January 11, 2019, Lori Rabinowitz, Trenam Law’s director of marketing and business development, was profiled in an article for Business Observer on her “passion for the pour” as a certified sommelier and business development professional. Ever since enrolling in a course at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Miami nearly a decade ago, Rabinowitz has been a certified sommelier and has cultivated a deep appreciation for wines of all varieties along the way.
Rabinowitz’s skills as a sommelier have also found its way into Trenam’s offices through her position as director of marketing and business development. Rabinowitz created Wine Down Wednesday, a networking event for the attorneys at Trenam and their current and prospective clients. On the last Wednesday of every month, Trenam attorneys invite their clients to taste and learn about four different wines from various regions that Rabinowitz hand-selected. “It’s a good way to stay in touch with our contacts on a casual basis,” Rabinowitz explained. “And not every wine is expensive – we run the gamut.”
In fact, Rabinowitz says the quality of wine does not have much to do with the cost. The economics of wine can be deceptive, so through her education as a sommelier, she learns how cost relates to quality. “People (are) always asking me the question, ‘What’s a good wine?’ and my answer is, ‘If you like it, it’s a good one,’” she said.
