Settling a business dispute through jury trial has never been a fast process, but the wait could be even longer given the limitations placed on courts by the Covid-19 pandemic. With social distancing restrictions in place, jury trials have been suspended since the spring and will likely not resume until such restrictions are removed.
“I had a couple cases that were supposed to be tried in May and July, and the delay has been frustrating, but it has led to cases now being resolved outside of court,” said Amy Drushal, an attorney handling business dispute cases for Trenam Law in Tampa. “Those cases have been going on for long time, and when they last for years and years, both sides get fatigue. So if they’re finding out that there’s a whole another year waiting, that can lead to a resolution.”
