Trenam Kemker is pleased to announce that one of its Tampa-based shareholders, Robert G. Stern, was recently appointed to the University of Florida’s Board of Trustees by Governor Rick Scott. Stern, who earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida, and will serve a five-year term.
“As a long-time advocate of upper-level education, I am humbled and honored by this opportunity to serve my state and my alma mater in this capacity,” said Stern. “Never has it been more imperative for our young people to receive a quality education from our state schools, and I look forward to contributing my expertise in this area to advance the cause and impact of education in our state.”
Stern joins other leading business executives and attorneys from throughout Florida and across the Southeastern U.S. in overseeing the university’s facilities and program needs. The trustees assist in the budgetary process, provide financial and volunteer resources to the school, and facilitate student mentoring programs. Money raised through the organization supports a number of student and faculty programs, scholarships and activities.
Previously, Stern has served as president of the University of Florida National Alumni Association and as a member of the Post-Secondary Education Planning Commission. Currently, he is an adjunct professor at the Stetson University College of Law, and a business law professor in the University of South Florida’s College of Business.
