Marie Tomassi was featured in a February 24 Tampa Bay Business Journal Q&A as an honoree of the publication’s 2022 “Business Woman of the Year” awards, in which she discussed her career path and advice for other women, her leadership goals for the future and the hobbies and activities she enjoys outside of the office.
In addition to discussing her first paid jobs at her family’s Italian and Mexican restaurants, Marie shared insight on what has driven her to succeed in her career, saying she was raised to take pride in her work, always do the best that she could and challenge herself to be better. “I also know that other people are depending on me to succeed – my family, my Trenam team of more than 160, whose families depend on us, and of course our clients who deserve only the best,” she said. When asked about advice she would give to young women just starting their careers, Marie recommended defining your own meaning of success, which may change over time, and pursuing it. “Also, be kind, care deeply and know your own worth.”
While there are many lessons to be taken from the past two years, one professional takeaway Marie shared is that there are many ways to work effectively and that a strong culture of commitment and excellent can withstand change and even difficult challenges. Looking ahead to goals for the next year, Marie aims to stay the course so that Trenam Law will continue to provide excellence to clients and remain a great place to work with a strong, vibrant culture.
On a personal level, Marie enjoys spending her downtime with her adult children, including her son-in-law and grand-dog, and her close-knit Italian family. She also loves to read novels, cook occasionally and walk on the beach, which (if she has to pick) is coincidentally one of her favorite places in Tampa Bay.
