Trenam Law has taken on the founder of a boutique law firm focused on serving entrepreneurs, venture capital funds investing startups and angel investors, the firm recently announced.
Sheryl Hunter, founder of The Entrepreneur’s Law Firm, joins Trenam Law as a shareholder in its Tampa office advising businesses and investors on legal issues surrounding the creation of companies, the firm said May 16.
Hunter told Law360 on Thursday said she has seen technology and other similar Silicon Valley businesses rising in the Tampa Bay area since 2013, which is when she branded her firm.
She said that as the business startups she had assisted evolved into companies with more than60 employees, they demanded more attention than her small firm could provide.
“When I would lose one or two attorneys, as a small firm, that would have a dramatic impact on trying to keep up with the work,” she said. “Going to Trenam for me was really kind of being able to step into a deep talent pool and have those resources at my fingertips, instead of consistently having to rebuild them as they leave.”
Hunter, who also co-founded legal services provider Liberty Law Suites, said she moved into business law in part because she saw her father work in the financial services industry and invested in startups.
“But it was really just more of the excitement of innovation and somebody starting their own business out of an idea,” she said.
Hunter earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center
in 1995 and started her law career at Carlton Field PA.
Some national firms have been boosting their Florida presences in recent years, and some have seen record revenues since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
